Own initial ideas

Together as a group we came up with the story line, but we individually thought of ideas to the add to the story to make it the best we could. I decided on the location because every other location we chose had faults. As a group we decided on the clothes and props. I decided what we should roughly do our film about then we adapted our idea.

Individual response to planning meetings and editing process

Planning our story was the hardest part,We found it easy to work with each other which was good for the group. We had three different story lines that we wanted to use but all of them had faults, so we decided to take parts from all of them and put them into one story. That is how we come up with Redemption. We all put a lot of time and effort into the planning to make out opening successful. We watched clips out of Adulthood to see the attire that the characters wear, which helped us decide on the clothing for our characters. once we had filmed our opening we had to do the editing we used a program called Final cut,at the begging we just was getting used to the program, we all took turns on editing but unfortunately I found it harder to use so I let Daniel and Daniel do most of the editing.

Roll- camera man

I was assigned ed the roll of camera man because we felt as a group i was best suited for that position as i have had experience with a camera before. In our opening sequence I used as many shots that I could, for example I used pan, close up,long shot, pov and track. I have gained a lot more knowledge and skills from using the camera, I feel more confident when using one now.

individual response to the idea/ thoughts about group choice

We each had different ideas on the settings, Daniel had the idea to go to a park near our sixth for,m but when we started filming we realized the park wasn't good to work with, and we wasn't aloud to film there so we had to decide on a different setting. Daniel G had the idea of filming in Manor park but unfortunately it was too far. I had the idea of going to Blagdon park in New Malden it was a good choice because it was near, quiet and easy to film in. The only problem with this park is that parents and children can come inside the park so we had to stop filming. We had to the park during lessons because that was when there wasnt any children. We filmed on two different days but we had to start over on the second day due to the weather change. It was easy for us to decide on what the characters wear because its in music videos and were familiar with this situation so we knew what types of clothes to wear. We also got ideas by watching opening sequences and trailers for props and clothes. For example we used the trailer from Adulthood. We decided Jay should wear a black hoody, trainers, black hat and a bandanna this shows hes not looking for attention from the crowd. For Curtis we simply used casual clothes. We needed to find a blunt object to b used as a weapon, this is a significant object and it could carry on a story.

planning meeting stuff from week 3 (jan 16-20)

On the third week we finished up our final storyboard which included a setting and actors. We planned every single shot in detail and tried to put effort into every shot.  after that we decided the props were needed, we decided on black clothes, black bandanna for Jay because it represents his gang. The other character which is a harmless young man, he wears casual clothes. The story begins with Curtis entering the park and sitting down on a bench then goes on his phone that's when he notices a boy in a bandanna is coming over to him. Curtis didn't take him serious but jay didn't like that because if the status he has so he became aggressive towards Curtis. the situation got worse Jay punched Curtis to the floor, it was clear to the audience what sort of person Jay was. after that Jay picked up a blunt pbject and hit it over Curtis face, theres a fade out the you can hear someone talk in  a different language with subtitles will come up.

personal response to the breif

At first we all thought of different ideas for a story, these where varied and we decided on which story would be better and most successful, we used different ideas from all three of us and put it all into one story, for example different camera shots and the plots, it was quite easy deciding a location for our opening sequence and we all agreed that we filmed the opening sequence in a park, our first attempt of filming didn't go too well,  we didn't have the right props and the story just wasn't that good. our story wasn't working so we decided on a new story, a few lessons later we came up with a solid idea that we thought would be interesting and successful, we now have a perfect location, and we have some added props, a black bandanna which will be a significant object later on. I've been assigned to be the camera man, I feel that I will do well in this task.

planning meeting stuff from week 2 (jan 9-13)

We brainstormed a completely different idea to our first one, it involved a troubled teenage girl who found a friend that can relate to her, behind the computer he was a nice person, she liked him and trusted him, but he was manipulating her. The problem in this relationship was her religion which forbid her from seeing him. We felt that this story wasn't exciting enough and wasn't very challenging, it was no different to any other story. so we decided to not use this story board. During the planning we come up with a good idea which we could commit to. It involves a troubled kid played by Tawhir, and a brutal thug played by Daniel Glazier.the story starts with a long shot at the bus stop that Tawhir is sitting at, he receives a text asking if hes bunking again, he didn't reply. Tawhir caught the bus to an illusive park, on the way there we tried to film him and the scenery so the audience can see the setting. when he gets to the park he jumps over the fence and pulls out something and starts smoking,  this shows what sort if character he is

planning meetings stuff from week 1 (jan 4-6)

We were  all put into groups, we got to choose the people we wanted in our groups. In my group there is me, Danny and Daniel. The first thing we did was the brainstorming ideas for our storyboard and everyone came up with some good ideas. The first idea for the storyboard was really good but we had problems, we weren't enable to do use that story board, because we didn't have the right props and location for the story. To get inspiration we watched opening sequences and examples from other students. We had a back up story board in case a problem occurred with the first story. We brainstormed ideas for the second story as well which should be completely different from the first one.

credit sequences

At the beginning when the camera is going down on to the map it zooms in  a few times. The visuals in the opening credit sequence are very good, this film is about war, army or the slaves and gladiators.on the map its showing the development in the city, the camera hovers over the map going from city to city to sow the difference in them. the colors are dark and dull but with a gold lighting affect. The credits are in gold the do not really stand out from anything, the blend with the sand and the gold at the beginning. the credits are plain but however they do stand out from the map. The is a lot of Ariel shot to show the buildings and sea. at the end of its fades to black and then the name of the director and who it was written by came up in gold, this shows to the audience that they are the most important people out of every name shown. They wanted the audience just to focus on them names unlike all the other ones that were shown whilst a lot was going on in the background.

roll (camera man)

My role in the group is the camera man, I have had the most experience with cameras in the group so we though I should be assigned to be the camera man. I have to do many different shots in the opening scene, such as pan, high angle, low angle, close ups, extreme close ups, and long shots. I think i have gained many more skills and improved much more since the last time I used a camera, I am much more confident whilst using one now. I am new to using the tri pod i find that using it makes the camera capture the shots better, it makes the shots more steady.

opening sequence

This openings scene shows that the film is a comedy/horror its meant to be funny but it is quite violent. The girl has rich parents but she is meant to be a dumb blonde for example when she had a choice of a grenade, knife gun or a banana she chose the banana and when there was two signs safety and death, she chose death. A few different shots were used such as long shot, close up, mid shot. it starts with the girl ansewering the phone and having a casual conversation with a random person, but what she doesnt no is that he is about to kill her, he starts to threaten her so she puts the phone down. kids nock on her door in costumes because its halloween but instead of her giving the sweets she hits them with a baseball bat, this shows the comedy side of the film. outside is very dark and grey with fog this is normaly a set for a horror film. Even when the killer is chasing her she runs through the spriklers posing in her bra and nickers. The ladies mum and dad payed no attention to the fact they just hit something, which was their daughter.

opening sequence

This opening sequence shows that this movie will have a lot of action packed scenes, fast cars and crime. The camera shots and angles are very effective they use many different shots to show the speed of the cars. there are a lot of pan, and long shots throughout it. At the beggining thers a close up of the a convict on the bus then it fades to an extreme longshot of the bus of convicts and the surroundings, this sets the scen staight away, then three cars appear driving the wrong way on the road and heading for the bus. The drivers of the cars have no worries for authority and the law, or themselves getting hurt. The woman drives staright at the bus making the bus swerve and  ends up hitting into another car and flips over countless times. The camera pans a car to show the speed of the car. there are many close ups of the drivers and the bonet and front of the cars.

opening sequence

The first shot is on the turkey this shows straight away that its Christmas, This opening sequence is intersting the genre changes throughout, at first it shows an unhappy but wealthy family on Christmas day having their meal it seems serious and there is some tension between some characters. Something is going on between two of the characters that the rest of the family don't about,  Then it turn into a comedy, Santa who isn't real comes down their chimney and kills all of them in different ways.

Opening scene

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/NtbohxMTxdM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The idea of this opening scene is well though about. the voice over works very well and tells a good story, the camera shots and fade outs are good. the music played goes well with this genre film. the characters stay in roll throughout the whole opening scene which makes the idea of a gangster film very believable and effective.

opeing sequence

the whole idea of this opening scene is neither good nor effective, the actors and actresses don't stay in character. it just seems like everything was put together last minute. the voice over doesn't go with the opening scene. overall i think it was badly planned and filmed.

opening scene analysis

The characters in this opening scene play there roll very well as agents, the idea of terrorists is very good. the opening scene is very dramatic the camera shots and angles are done very well. The digetic music goes well with the action packed scenes. The sound affects are very effective, also the camera shots are good. The mid shot at the beginning of the two agents shows that thy are the main characters in this opening. The fade in and fade outs fall into place very well. Also the music played goes well with this opening.
